Sunday was a great race at the PASS sanctioned Riverside Speedway.  The second annual Pre Hangover 150 took place.  The weather was clear and not too cold, making for great conditions.

Forty three cars started the race, but only three actually finished.  All types of vehicles were represented from big Caddy’s to station wagons, to pickups.  The race started slow, as track conditions weren’t perfect.  It looked more like they should have been racing dirt bikes with all the bumps, but it did make it pretty entertaining.  The larger vehicles seemed hard to handle as they were loose most of the time, sliding and spinning all over.  The small pickup, actually lost the bed of the truck during the race.  Many racers, simply got too far off the track and got stuck in the snow.  My early pick for contention Brock Davis to punted to the infield and his day was over.  Lots of suspension parts were broke, and some cars just died.  All in all it was a great race

Doug Bandy from Lyndonville took the early lead.  I knew he would give it his all, but wondered if his body would take it.  Doug was the one airlifted to Dartmouth this past October, during the Frostbite 400.  Doug stayed out in front the entire race.  With 20 or so laps to go he got off turn 3 and looked as if his day might be over, but rocked the car out and got back into the race, with a completely snow covered windshield.  Ryan Avery, and Michael Dearden swapped back and forth for second throughout the end of the race with Dearden picking up the 2nd spot.  Rounding out the top five were David Wilds and Lawrence MacDonald.

Already can’t wait for the car show.  Pictures and archived FANatic articles can be seen at http://racing.apcomptech.com   If you have any questions or comments email me at riversidefanatic@apcomptech.com
