This past Saturday night in the Novice class, Kristopher Russell held
off several challenges from Tyler Leighton, Vanessa Brown, Dickie Stanley, and
Dayna Randall to collect his first career checkered flag. He raced by Tyler
Leighton with three to go to secure the win. Stanley, Randall, Riley Hartshorn
and Curtis Randall completed the top five.
In what was probably the best race of their careers, and maybe the best
race of the night, Sammy Gooden broke free of the pack on lap 18 of the green
to checker main event in the Masters class. The win was far from easy, as four
cars ran two by two the entire distance, until Brandon Lambert’s #77
suffered mechanical problems and fell back off the pace. Gooden and Jesse
Switser ran door handle to door handle for 18 laps, as did Shawn Swallow and
Lambert before Lambert’s problem set in. Gooden edged ahead on lap 19, while
Swallow and Switser raced side by side to the stripe, with Switser getting the
spot on the final turn. Cody Hodge raced home 4th, followed by Tori
Delabruere in 5th.
The Daredevils will be back in action this Saturday night. For more
