TODD KENISON SCORES COOL

GRAND VICTORY AT RIVERSIDE SPEEDWAY

On a beautiful Memorial Day weekend, Sunday afternoon, Todd Kenison lost the race on the track by two car lengths, but won the race in the tech shed, as initial winner, Aric Cole, failed post race inspection in the Jiffy Mart Cyclone, 200 lap, four cylinder enduro. Other winners on the day included, Tori Delabruere and Sammy Gooden in the Daredevils, Kate Demar in the Riverside Angels, and Travis Belisle in the North Country Dwarf Cars.

Kenison dogged Cole the entire 200 laps, but fell a few feet short at the finish line. After post race inspection found two of the top five out of stock, the final finish showed the $1,000 top prize landing in the wallet of Kenison. Jeff Ainsworth rolled home second, followed by David Couture, Joseph Houghton and Tyler Therrien.

The North Country Dwarf cars had a very successful reunion at the track that they once called home. A good field of dwarf cars took to the high banks of Riverside and thoroughly entertained the large crowd on hand. When the checkers flew, it was Travis Belisle scoring a hard fought win over John Drinkwine, Haywood Herriott, Jerry Nelson and Dana Huoppi. Herriott won the lone qualifier.

Kate Demar picked up a popular win in the the Coca-Cola Riverside Angels, as she held off track legend, Jennie Dion. Allison Brown, Min Kennett and Anna Degreenia completed the top five.

The Wildman Auto Daredevils ran a pair of features on Sunday, and once again they thrilled the crowd with great driving skills. These 10-14 year olds once again ran side by side and caution free on the afternoon. In the Novice class, Tori Delabruere picked up her first career win as she dominated her fifteen lap feature. The battle for second through fifth was a torrid one as Dayna Randall held off Ciara McCoy, Jamie Kenison Jr., and Kristopher Russell. Sammy Gooden ran away and hid in the Veteran’s main event. Shawn Swallow was second. The race was for third as Riley Hartshorn, Alex Theroux and Jesse Switser swapped positions all race long with the finishing order staying the same.

Luke Shannon grabbed the $100 top prize in the Twisted Tea Spectator drags.
