The sun was shining, and the stands packed, this past Saturday at the PASS sanctioned Riverside Speedway.  The pits were full with higher car counts in nearly all divisions. 
 
The Angels were up first.  The 13 of Mary Eastman started up front, with the 1 of Jennifer Terrill outside.  Eastman got the jump, but Terrill pulled ahead for the lead.  The 41 of Vanessa Brown moved into the 2nd spot, then on lap 3 took the lead.  Also on lap 3 the 6 of Miranda Gervais moved to the 3rd spot.  Gervais then overtook the 2nd spot on lap 6.  On lap 27, the 00 of Ciara McCoy moved to the 3rd spot.  On lap 28, the lapped #26 of Wendy Robinson got into McCoy sending her hard slap into the front stretch wall.  McCoy was transported to the Hospital for a possible broken wrist or arm.  Not sure of her exact outcome, but she did return in time to take her place in the Battle of the Sexes race. Gervais got the jump on the restart, but Brown regained the lead.  On lap 29 the 44 of Jennie Dion and Gervais get together and bring out another caution.  Brown takes the restart, as the 7 of Kate Demar moved to 2nd, and the 5 of Traci Nelson moved to 3rd.  With a wild finish, Brown takes the win followed by Nelson and the 3nh of Shirley Ward.  Demar flies off turn 1 and comes to rest on her side.  She is ok, and extricates herself from the car.
 
The Daredevil Rookies put on another great show, with the 75 of Andrew Fecteau starting on the pole, and the 68 of Keith Lord starting outside.  Fecteau takes the lead as the 29 of Brendan Hunt moved to 2nd and the 3 of Kristopher Russell moves to 3rd.  On lap 3 Hunt takes the lead and Russell moves to 2nd.  On lap 7 the 93 of Cameron Bowen and the 2 of Curtis Randall get together sending Randall into the pit road tire wall sending the officials scrambling.  Randall was transported for neck pains.  He was alert and talking when safety crews arrived.  Hunt takes the restart as the 8 of Tyler Leighton moves into 3rd.  Hunt and Russell battle for the lead.  They get together on lap 11 sending Russell off turn1. Leighton takes the lead.  On lap 12 Russell is back to 3rd place.  On lap 13 he takes 2nd.  On lap 44, Hunt moves back to 3rd place.  At the stripe, for back to back wins is Leighton followed by Russell and Hunt.
 
In the Daredevil Veterans, the 62 of Dilyn Switser started on the pole, with the 73 of Riley Hartshorn outside.  Hartshorn takes the advantage, but Switser pulls ahead for the lead.  The 12 of Brett Gervais moves into 2nd on lap 2.  On lap 7, Gervais and the 77 of Brandon Lambert get together.  They recover, but the yellow still flies, with dirt everywhere.  Switser takes the restart.  On lap 8, the 5 of Jesse Switser moves to 2nd.  On lap 9, the 44 of Kyle Pembroke and Hartshorn get together.  Dilyn Switser again takes the lead.  The 72 of Cody Hodge overtakes 2nd on lap 10, and takes the lead on lap 12.  On lap 16, Jesse Switser moves into 2nd.  At the checkers, it is Hodge followed by the Switsers, Jesse, and Dilyn.
 
The Street Stocks were up next, for a caution free race.  The 29 of Chris Meunier started on the pole, with the 06 of Michael Moore outside.  Meunier takes the lead, as the 38 of Ryan Heuser moves to 2nd, and the 12 of Tyler Therrien moves to 3rd.  On lap 3, Meunier gets loose and slides back, giving Heuser the lead, Therrien 2nd, and the 22 of Mike Smith 3rd.  The 95 of Alex Theroux moves to 3rd spot on lap 8, and 2nd spot on lap 11.  On lap 12, the 27 of Troy Randall overtakes 3rd.  They go across the stripe three wide, with Heuser taking the win, followed by Randall and Theroux.

            The Super Stocks were next to take the field. The 38 of Robin Hood started on the pole, with the 55 of Jamie Longley outside.  Hood took the lead, but gets loose in turn 2 and slides up causing cars to go everywhere.  Denny Degreenia in the 8 takes the leak, but has the 13 of Luke Shannon hanging on the outside.  The 77 of James Lambert moves to the 3rd spot.  Hood again spins the car bringing out the caution.  Shannon takes the restart.  On lap 11, Lambert moves to 2nd.  The yellow flies again on lap 12 for the 02 of Tim Clark on the infield.  It is a drag race on the restart, as neither Shannon nor Lambert wants to give any.  It takes 6 laps for Shannon to settle into the lead.  Lambert gets loose on lap 21 and goes around in turn 3.  It was another drag race off the restart for Shannon and Degreenia.  On lap 27, the 01 of Brian Gosselin moves to the 3rd spot.  Gosselin started dead last in the race, with only his second week in this car.  At the checkers, it is Shannon followed by Degreenia and Gosselin.  Degreenia is disqualified for post race technical inspection for a wheel violation, giving 2nd to Gosselin and 3rd to Jeff Fysh.  Fysh driving the 04 Swallow machine after he blew the motor in his own car.
 
The Battle of the Sexes II race was up next.  This race pitted the top 5 Cyclones against the top 5 Angels.  Mary Eastman in the 13 started on the pole, with the 41 of Vanessa Brown outside.  Brown takes the lead.  The yellow flies.  Eastman takes the restart, as the 3 of Andy Simpson moves to 2nd, and the 27 of Aric Cole 3rd.  On lap 2 Simpson takes the lead, Cole moves to 2nd, and the 41 Cyclone of Jeff Ainsworth 3rd.  Ainsworth moves to the 2nd spot.  At the line it is Simpson followed by Ainsworth and Cole.  If there were another 10 laps, the 36 of Allison Brown may have moved into the top 3.
 
Nineteen Late Models took to the field for their feature. The 90 of Floyd Bennett started on the pole, with the 69 of Donald Franklin outside.  Bennett takes the lead as the 36 of Howard Switser moves to 3rd.  The yellow flies for a pile up in turn 3 on lap 5.  Switser takes the restart.  On lap 8, the 10 of Bryan Mason moves to 2nd.  On lap 12 the 1 of Corey Mason moves to 3rd.  The yellow flies again on lap 14.  Switser get the jump, but Bryan Mason takes the lead.  On lap 16, the 12 of Reno Gervais moves into the 3rd spot.  The yellow flies again on lap 20, for Gervais getting into the wall and goes off turn 1.  Bryan Mason takes the restart, as brother Corey moves to 2nd.  The 81 of Grant Folsom overtakes 3rd on lap 21.  The yellow flag is out again.  Corey Mason takes the lead.  On lap 24 the 02 of Russ Clark moves to the 3rd spot, and on lap 28 overtakes 2nd.  Brooks Clark in the 68, and Ryan Delabruere in the 76 get together on lap 32.  Corey Mason again takes the restart.  On lap 38, Russ Clark overtakes the lead.  At the line it is Clark followed by the Mason brothers: Corey and Bryan. 
 
The Cyclones capped off the evening.  It was a really great race, with the 20 of Charlie Rockwell taking the victory over the 41 of Jeff Ainsworth, the 48 of Scott Marshall the 04 of Shaun Stetson, and rounding out the top 5 was the 3 of Andy Simpson.
 
Next Saturday, Aug 11th is double points night for all divisions.  The Late Models will run a 75 lap main event.  Also on the card will be the Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Daredevils, and Cyclones.
