The
rain Saturday was bad for some tracks, but held out for Riverside Speedway, a
PASS sanctioned speedway. With other tracks canceling early, a few
drivers ventured north to Riverside. The Late Model Sportsman started
with 23 cars, the largest car count in quite some time. The
Dwarf cars started out the night with the 4 of Nathan Brown on the pole with
the 93 of Dave Gyger outside. Brown took the lead, and the 17 of Haywood
Herriott moved into 2nd, and the 2 of Eric Hall moved into 3rd.
Herriott brought out the yellow on lap 7 as he spun in the front stretch.
Again the yellow flew on lap 10. Brown took the restart. On lap 12
the 36 of Jim Barker took a hard hit into the back stretch wall. Barker
was alert and talking as safety crews arrived, he was taken by ambulance to
the hospital as a precautionary measure. On the restart Brown and Hall
went back and forth with Brown coming up in the lead. On lap 23 Hall and
Gyger got together, the 22 of Dana Huoppi has to take evasive action and found
himself going up over turn one. Brown takes the restart, and the win.
He is followed across the stripe by the 17M if Curtis Robinson and Huoppi. The
Super Stocks took to the field next. The 01 of Brian Gosselin back to
the Super Stocks after selling his Late Model to Gene Leblanc, started on the
pole with the 76 of Shawn Hood outside his door. Gosselin has the lead
initially as the 73 of Dave Ofsuryk Jr. makes it 3 wide going under Gosselin
and Hood causing them to get together and spin Hood around. Ofsuryk
takes the lead on the restart as the 74 of Dan Sidney moves into 2nd.
On lap 4 the 13 of Luke Shannon moves into 3rd, bringing the 04 of
Nathan Swallow with him. Shannon slips high on lap 8 giving Swallow room
to sneak under him for 3rd. The yellow flag flies on lap 9 as
the 38 of Robin Hood gets together with the 55 of Jamie Longley. Sidney
gets the initial lead, but Ofsuryk regains the lead. Swallow moves to
the 2nd spot on lap 12 bringing with him Shannon for the 3rd
spot. Shawn Hood and Longley get together on lap 24. On the
restart, Robin Hood goes around and Longley takes a detour over turn 2.
Swallow takes the lead and the win. Shannon captures the 2nd
spot and the 33 of Jeff Fysh takes home 3rd. The
06 if Michael Moore started on the pole for the Street Stocks, with the 02 of
Tom Sokolis starting outside. Moore takes the lead as the 38 of Ryan
Heuser moves into 2nd. On lap 2 the 76 of Tori Delabruere
moves into 3rd and two laps later she overtakes the 2nd
spot. The 04 of Shawn Swallow has a tire go down and comes to a rest in
turn 2. Moore and Delabruere are neck and neck on the restart.
Delabruere gets loose and drops back. Bill Stebbins Jr., in the 07,
spins on the back stretch on lap 10. On the restart a bunch of cars get
together on the front stretch. Moore takes the restart and the 27 of
Troy Randall moves into 2nd. On lap13 Delabruere regains the
2nd spot, but on lap 18 she spins in turn 4. Randall takes
the restart. Swallow spins on lap 21. Randall again takes the
restart and the win. The 22 of Michael Smith comes across the stripe in
2nd and Moore takes 3rd. The
Late Models had a rough night. With 23 cars taking to the field, there
were a total of nine cautions in 40 laps. The 81 of Grant Folsom started
on the pole with the 42 of Brian Greer outside. Greer took the lead.
The 1 of Corey Mason and the 2 of Reno Gervais get together sending Mason
around. Folsom takes the restart, with Greer hanging right with him.
On lap 4 the 37 of Steve Mandigo goes flying off turn one. Greer takes
this restart, and the yellow flies again as the 83 of Stacy Cahoon and the 22
of Kyle Caron get together. Folsom takes the next three restarts.
On lap 11 the 12 of Mike Paquette moves into 2nd and the 02 of Russ
Clark overtakes 3rd. On lap 20 the 28 of Dwayne Lamphere
overtakes the 2nd spot. Lap 24 and 27 see the caution flag
fly, with Folsom again taking the restarts. On lap 28 Lamphere moves
into the lead, as Clark battles to keep the 3rd spot away from Mike
Kenison in the 3. Kenison hangs on the outside for several laps, but
with no one willing to pull out behind him slides back. Debris brings
out the caution on lap 35. Lamphere takes the lead as Clark moves into 2nd,
and the 78 of Quinney Welch takes 3rd. Lamphere is first
across the stripe followed by Clark and Welch. The
Cyclone enduro went very smooth with few red flags. The 12 of Tyler
Therrien led a good percent of the race, but slipped back after the half way
point. The 04 of Shaun Stetson won the event followed by the 48 of Scott
Marshall, the 16x of Dean Switser (in his first asphalt race), the 9 of Ben
Bedor and Therrien rounding out the top five. Join
the fun next week, with the Late Models, Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Angels
and Round #1 of the Bear Ridge / Riverside Speedway Hornet / Cyclone Challenge
