Robert D. "Bobby" Shores, 53

Robert D. "Bobby" Shores, 53, a Lyndonville resident, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at his residence.

The son of Robert A. and Nellie A. (Lund) Shores, he was born Sept. 6, 1952, in St. Johnsbury. Bobby graduated from Lyndon Institute, Class of 1970, and graduated with high honors as first in his class from Vermont Technical College, Class of 1974, with a combined degree in electrical/mechanical engineering. Bobby spent many hours tutoring numerous college students from all over the country.

He enjoyed hunting, skiing, skating, basketball and most of all, racing. Following an alcohol-related crash, in which he was a passenger, that left him a paraplegic, he continued to be involved with racing as long as his health permitted. Bobby always had a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. He could make you feel good no matter what.

Bobby is survived by his father, Robert A. Shores and his companion Carolyn Desrochers of Lyndon Center; sister, Sherri Mitchell, brother-in-law, Andy Mitchell, niece, Staci Lynn Mitchell, and nephew, Andrew Hazen Mitchell, all of West Burke; and an uncle, Vernon E. Shores and his wife Jane of Charlton, Mass.

He was predeceased by his mother, Nellie, in 1988; a special grandmother, Maude N. Lund; and an aunt and uncle, Katherine and Byron Young.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Jan. 6, from 5-8 p.m., at the Pearsons Funeral Home, located at 70 Church St., Lyndonville. A graveside service will be in the spring at Lyndon Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bobby's name to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Pearsons Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Lyndonville.
