FROM THE DESK OF THE
GENERAL MANAGER
THIS IS ANOTHER RIVERSIDE
RUMBLINGS
Welcome
to this edition of Riverside Rumblings. Well it finally came and it finally
has gone, the Great Valentines Day Blizzard. We got about two feet here at my
house. We had our four wheel drives and cars buried in the yard til later on
last night. I imagine most of you are still digging out. Couple of smart
thoughts include making sure you are bundled up to prevent frostbite. Don't
drink much alcohol and then go outside and shovel, etc. Don't overdo it. Take
small sections at a time and then take a break. Hopefully these tips will help
keep you around a little longer.
We are
still working on ideas for the Jake McDowell Fund. I have a couple and will be
presenting it to the family very soon. Please forward any ideas, but please, I
have had hundreds of people say let's run a memorial race. This will happen,
but we want the money from the fund to go to something that will be a
lasting memory. Donations can be sent to Riverside Speedway, P.O. Box 187,
Lyndon, VT 05849.
LOTS OF NEW FACES HEAD TO RIVERSIDE FOR
2007
There
will be a lot of new faces donning the pit area in 2007 here at Riverside
Speedway. Several new names, plus several familiar old names that have been
absent at Riverside for a few years will be returning. Early numbers are
looking good in all divisions. There appears to be significant growth in the
Late Models, Super Stocks and Street Stocks. The Outlaws are progressing
nicely, and the phone is ringing off the hook for the Daredevils. All in all
it looks like a great year in 2007!
SLAB INFORMATION
A lot of
new people are requesting slabs again this year, especially LMS teams. If you
have not renewed your slab yet, you better get off your butt and do it, or you
won't have one. If you had a slab last year, I must have your renewal in
my hands by March 16, 2007. Payment is not due until April 30th but I must
have a renewal in hand by March 16th. If I do not have a renewal in my hand by
March 16, 2007, you have lost your slab, and will get one only if there are
any available ones left.
NEW PIT PARKING PLAN
There
will be a new parking plan in the pits for 2007. The area across from the
slabs will be saved for only weekly divisions. That area will be for LMS,
Outlaws, Street Stocks and Super Stocks only. All Angels, Daredevils, Cyclones
and Dwarf Cars will be parking in the back rows of the pit area. This is
to allow for safer parking in the pit area. This will be strictly enforced.
The only adjustment
will be for a team that has
a family member racing in a Daredevil or Angel car.
NEW
LICENSE INFO
The date
for everyone to reserve last years number has passed for everyone but
Cyclones. Cyclones have until March 17th to reserve their number or stand the
chance of losing it. Everyone that raced last year outside of Cyclones was
mailed a form to register for a license and register their number. Many have
done so, others haven't. All numbers left over are now available and will
be given out on a first come, first serve basis. THERE WILL BE NO DUPLICATE
NUMBERS. No duplicate numbers with with a VT or NH after it will be allowed,
or with a letter. NO three digit numbers will be allowed. Everyone has until
April 1, 2007 to get the reduced license prices. After that the fee goes up.
No license application will reserve a number without payment, NO exceptions.
BIG NEWS RELEASE FOILED
In a
release that I e-mailed out in December, I stated to be watching for a big
announcement. Unfortunately the deal just fell through after months of
negotiations. A disagreement over a couple of clauses that got added after the
fact, just before signing forced me to back out. The event was rather
significant and would have been a big draw to the track and the community. I
am not at liberty to discuss this deal as both parties agreed to anonymity.
Hopefully it can be worked out for 2008.
