MING UNSTOPPABLE AT RIVERSIDE
After a two week layoff for bad weather, the P.A.S.S. sanctioned Riverside Speedway returned to action with a full card of racing on Jiffy Mart night. Winners included Derek Ming, Brian Gosselin, Keith Lord, Lyndsay Christman, Randy Whittum, Nick Gilcris and Lorin Vear.
The Berlin Optical Expression Outlaw Sportsman ran twin 15 lap features, but the outcome was the same as Derek Ming won both segments keeping his unbeaten streak alive in feature events for 2009. Doug Laleme, Alex Rooney, Mike Martel and Dan Sidney completed the top five. Ming also scored the qualifying checkers.
The Budweiser Super Stocks went green to checkers and when the dust settled, Brian Gosselin picked up his first win of the season. A skirmish on the last lap sent the field scattering, thus altering the finish. Following Gosselin across the stripe were Dilyn Switser, Jerad Ledger, Shawn Hood, and points leader, Luke Shannon. Heat wins went to Gosselin and Ledger.
The River Bend RV Street Stocks went green to checkers as well and most of the race saw rookie driver, Keith Lord and Chris Caron race side by side, swapping the lead each lap. The rookie prevailed as he hung on for his first career Street Stock victory. Caron held off Brett Rowell for second, while Rick Utley Jr. and Dean Switser Jr. rounded out the top five. The finish is unofficial following post race inspections. Lord and Kevin Whittum Jr. captured their respective heat checkers.
Lyndsay Christman picked up the win in the Brothers Used Furniture Angels, as she outdistanced her mother, points leader, Johanna Christman, Traci Nelson, Cynthia Litvin, and Mandi Woodard. Lyndsay Christman also captured the heat victory.
Randy Whittum was victorious in the Kids Only Daycare Daredevils Rookie main event. Desirae Sicard placed second ahead of Cody Morgan. Nick Gilcris won the Veterans feature ahead of Brent Ming and Jerrad Ainsworth.
The Jiffy Mart Cyclones checkers flew for Lorin Vear as he outdistanced Shawn Swallow, Chris Ouellette, Mitch Emery and Andy Simpson. Vear and Jeff Ainsworth won the qualifying rounds.
This coming weekend Riverside Speedway will host Round #3 of the Bond Auto Parts Triple Crown Series for Late Models as they will be racing for 100 laps with $1,000 going to the winner. All eight divisions will be in action with a special post time of 5pm. The kid’s favorite, Kids Pit Tour will get underway at 4pm.
Riverside Speedway is located off Route 3, on the Brown Road in Groveton, New Hampshire. For more information visit the track website at www.riversidespeedway.org, or call the track at 603-636-2005.
