QUINNEY WELCH SNARES
100 VICTORY AT RIVERSIDE
The 1st Annual, Front Row Sports Tavern, Fall Free For All at the P.A.S.S. sanctioned, Riverside Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire is now in the history books, but the scheduled one day event turned into a two day show, as Mother Nature wiped out activities near the end of qualifying, forcing the balance of the event to be rescheduled for Sunday afternoon. Winners of the event included Quinney Welch, Luke Shannon, Michael Smith, Dana Huoppi, Brendon Hunt and Charlie Rockwell.
The Late Model event was a 100 lap showdown between some of the finest drivers from Riverside, White Mountain and Thunder Road. Riverside runner-up Reno Gervais, and WMMP champion Quinney Welch brought the field to green. Gervais jumped out to an early lead as the first 29 laps clicked off without a hitch. On the restart Welch got the jump and never looked back as he cruised to the $1,200 victory. The battle for second through fifth was where the action was as Gervais, Mike Bailey, Joey Becker and Corey Mason swapped positions lap after lap. When the checkers flew for the two caution event, it was Welch, Bailey, Gervais, Becker and Mason. Heat wins went to Mike Kenison and Reno Gervais.
The Super Stock main was just as exciting as Luke “Big Money” Shannon got to the front at the mid-way point of the 50 lap event and then survived three cautions and a major challenge from Jerrad Ledger to take home the $500 paycheck. Ledger settled for second, followed by Dan Sidney, James Lambert and Raymond Eames. Jeremy Lacoss and David Ofsuryk Jr. won their respective heats.
Michael Smith picked up the win in the Street Stock feature in what could have been deemed the best race of the day. A late caution bunched up the field and six cars raced home under a blanket with Smith, Bobby Therrien, Rod Knudsen, Shawn Swallow and Scott Richardson completing the top five. Tyler Therrien and Tucker Williams won the preliminary rounds.
Dana Huoppi carried the checkers in the Dwarf Car feature. The race was shortened to 15 laps as only four cars returned on Sunday to compete. Following Huoppi to the line were Nathan Brown, Eric Hall and David Hartshorn. Ernie Laplant won the heat race.
A good field of Daredevils were on hand for their giant 25 lap main event and the youngsters thrilled the crowd again, just like they did all season long. A late race scrum sent the field scrambling and jumbled up the finishing order. The final rundown shows Brendon Hunt was victorious, followed by Andrew Fecteau, Cody Hodge, Chris Riendeau and Brett Gervais. Picking up wins in the heat races were Kyle Pembroke and Kristopher Russell.
The final event of the day was the 100 lap Cyclone Enduro. The man to beat was Charlie Rockwell as he picked up another win, and sets himself up as the odds on favorite to grab the $5000 winners share of the Frostbite 400 coming up this Saturday afternoon. Josh Lafleur, Alex Theroux, Jeremy Lacoss and Tim Powell completed the top five.
The next event on the calendar is the Frostbite 400 this coming Saturday afternoon at 2pm. The 400 lap 4/6 cylinder enduro will feature over 100 cars in competition over 400 laps, with the winner receiving $5,000.
