SWITSER, DEMAR, HUOPPI AND PEMBROKE

SCORE VICTORIES IN RIVERSIDE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The regular season came to an end last Saturday afternoon at the P.A.S.S. sanctioned Riverside Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire in front of a great crowd on a beautiful fall day. Winners included Howard Swister, Kate Demar, Dana Huoppi and Kyle Pembroke.

The first feature of the day was the Wildman Auto Daredevils race. Normally split into a pair of features, they were combined into one big race. Nineteen cars took the green flag, and only three minor cautions slowed the event. Kyle Pembroke grabbed the win in a near photo finish over Kristopher Russell. Cameron Bowen, Brandon Hunt and Riley Hartshorn rounded out the top five. Garnering special awards for the event were Randy Whittum and Jerrad Ainsworth.

Kate Demar ended her season on a positive note by winning the Leo Enos Landscaping Angels main event. She raced by Mary Eastman with eight laps remaining to secure the victory. Eastman held on for the second spot, followed by Ciara McCoy, Vanessa Brown and Wendy Johnson. By virtue of her fourth place finish, fifteen year old Vanessa Brown was crowned the 2007 champion.

The Twisted Tea Dwarf Car main went right down to the wire as four cars raced to the checkers under a blanket. Dana Huoppi won the battle over Nathan Brown, Ernie Laplant, Eric Hall and David Hartshorn. Hall was crowned the 2007 champion. Laplant won the lone qualifier.

Howard Switser grabbed the checkers in the Jiffy Mart Cyclone finale. It was a great battle as second place finisher Ben Bedor was right on Switser’s rear bumper as they crossed the stripe. Jeff Ainsworth, Josh Lafleur and Andy Simpson rounded out the top five. Lafleur picked up the championship title.

The next event on the calendar is Saturday, October 6th, as the Front Row Sports Tavern of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, presents the first ever Fall Free For All open competition event. The show will feature a $1,200 to win, 100 lap Late Model feature, plus a $500 to win Strictly Stock main, plus races for the Street Stocks, Dwarf Cars, Daredevil Youth Racers, and a combo four and six cylinder enduro. Post time is 1:30pm. Pits open at 8am. Riverside Speedway is located on Brown Road, off Route 3, in Groveton, New Hampshire.
