Banquet of Champions a Major Success
Jeff Marshall continued his stellar 2011
racing season, by receiving Riverside Speedway’s 2011 Johnny
Clark “Driver of the Year” award Saturday evening, while
attending the Speedway’s Banquet of Champions at the Town &
Country Motor Inn in Shelburne.
Over 360 guests attended the gala event, which began with the Daredevil drivers in attendance receiving a trophy and a large picture of them and their race car. The management team of Jean and Jane LeBlanc then inducted two more individuals into the Riverside Speedway. The late Steve Stiles and seven time Riverside track champion George Stone of Whitefield NH took the honors. The duo was nominated by long time competitor, Steve Patnaude, and quickly accepted by the Riverside management. Greg Stiles was present and accepted on behalf of his brother. Stiles deeply appreciated the Speedway's gesture of enshrinement.
Stone had been lured to the banquet expecting to be a part of a roast for his friend Patnaude. The seven-time champion was quite surprised by the honor and very humble in accepting the award from the track’s other Hall of Fame members Pete Marshall and Mike Beattie.
The large gathering was then treated to a delicious buffet meal provided by the Labnon family. The Speedway then began honoring its competitors for their regular season accomplishments along with divisional awards for Most Improved, Hard Charger, Sportsmanship, and Rookie of the year awards.
The specialty awards saw youngsters Matt Kopp and Colby Bourgeios receive the Kids Only Day Care awards. The Sign Depot/Kingdom Embroidery awarded Daredevil driver Jared Plumley with a new drivers suit with free embroidery. The Mother of the Year award was given to Groveton’s Nancy Marshall. The coveted Jake McDowell awards went to Daredevil driver Kristian Switser and Street stock competitor Michael Shaw. The Steve Stiles “Chief of Excellence Award” went to Berlin resident Jason Goyette. The Pete and Nancy Marshall sportsmanship award went to the driver of the #33 Dwarf car, Kevin Scott Hockman out of Danville Vermont. The Bobby Shores Award went to Pittsburg’s Patnaude for his work in organizing an event that recognized all of the Speedway's past champions. Patnaude was speechless upon receiving the honor and visibly moved.
That left the final award of the evening going to Jeff Marshall for driver of the year. Marshall won the Speedway’s Late Model division and had a tremendous showing at the Oxford 250 this past summer. Marshall thanked his family and his race team for being a big part of his success.
The divisional champions were honored by receiving their championship jackets. Marshall, Chandler Davis, Dave Gyger, Matt Carbone, Ben Belanger, Shawna Whitcomb, and Jason Wyman captured the speedway champions’ award.
At the conclusion of the awards, the group danced the night away to the tunes of Steve Emerson and Mountain Music. The track’s next event will be a driver’s meeting on Saturday December 12, at the Groveton town office.

Curtis Robinson to manage
Riverside Speedway in 2012
Curtis Robinson, son of long time
Riverside Speedway owner, CJ Robinson, will take over the
general management of the speedway for the 2012 season in
Groveton NH. Current lease holders Jean and Jane LeBlanc were
looking to step back after two years of operation that saw many
improvements to the historic facility, a few bumps along the way
and racing that was second to none.
“We are very happy that we were able to come to an agreement with the Robinson family,” said current General Manager Jean LeBlanc. “As the current Lease holders there were many challenges we faced during the season. Our families chose to try and come to an agreement that would be beneficial to both the LeBlanc family, the Robinson family and Riverside Speedway. We were able to do just that.”
Part of that agreement was that LeBlanc stay on as an employee at Riverside and continue his role as part time promoter and race director. “We have a very good administrative group with a lot of years of experience,” said LeBlanc. “You don’t see that kind of knowledge at every track and for the last two seasons, we have seen a very consistent count in the number of cars racing at Riverside Speedway. In my conversations with Curtis, he is not looking to make major changes. However, he has some great and innovative ideas of getting some of the fans to return to the high banks, which I think he can do. I am personally excited about the 2012 season and I am looking forward to working with the Robinson Family.”
Curtis Robinson has jumped into his management position with both feet running and has set a date of December 10th at the Groveton Town Hall for rule meetings with the drivers. The schedule is as follows: 9am-10am Super Stocks, 10 to 11 Street Stocks, 11 to 12 Dwarf Cars, 1 to 2 Outlaw/Sportsman, and 2 to 3 pm Late Models.
“Riverside Speedway is just three years away from its 50th anniversary,” said LeBlanc. “I know that there is something very special on the horizon for the North Country. There are some major businesses that are currently getting underway and breathing some life back into the area. We have been hit so hard economically with all of the local mills being closed. These big construction projects will put the local labor force back to work, which will only help the area grow. The Speedway has been one thing in the area that has remained constant through some tough times. In 2012 I can see the speedway growing in leaps and bounds and have some of its best events ever.”
The next event for Riverside Speedway will be its 2011 “Banquet of Champions” scheduled for Saturday November 12th, at the beautiful Town & Country Motor Inn in Shelburne, NH. Deadline for ordering tickets is November 5th.

Frostbite 250 News
GROVETON--Mother Nature tried her best to
slow down Maine's Josh Laird during the Ouellette Trucking
Frostbite 250. However, a good set of windshield wipers and a
car that stuck to the bottom part of the race track helped Laird
to the victory at Groveton's Riverside Speedway Saturday.
The speedway also crowned its four remaining divisional champions at the conclusion of their featured events. Shawna Whitcomb, Jason Wyman, Chandler Davis, and Dave "Smoke" Gyger, were all crowned champions for 2011 and will be honored along with Ben Belanger, Matt Carbone, and Jeff Marshall on Saturday Novemeber 12th at the Town & Country Motor Inn.
The Griffin Family Angels division rolled onto the high banks for their 25 lap main event. 2011 champion Whitcomb drew the pole in the final race of 2011 and appeared to be well on her way to victory. The lapped car of first time racer Sara Kelly made contact with Whitcomb, sending her #21 into the infield and through the huge puddle that had accumulated from earlier rains. The caution flew and the duo was sent to the back of the field.
That opened the door for 2010 champion Allison Barney. Barney had a rear view mirror full of Tracie Nelson. A three wide finish had Barney just barley holding on to defeat Nelson. Third place went to WMMP's Lisa Hodgdon in her #0. Youngster Jenna Randall was fourth and Vanessa Brown fifth rounding out the top five.
A huge field of Twisted Tea Dwarf cars were on hand nineteen strong for their final event of the year. Time trials were used for the first segment and the Riverside regulars did not disappoint the Riverside faithful, taking five of the six fastest times. Dave "Smoke" Gyger ran the fastest time at 13:52. Bobby Riley, Rod Knudson, Jason Wyman (first time in a Dwarf Car), and Rusty Bryant rounded out the top five spots in the time trials. Gyger received the $100 dollar bonus for being the fastest time trialer from the Franconia Auto Service Team.
The field was inverted for the second event. Bryant weaved his #4 through the field from his fifteenth starting position to win the second segment. Dennis O'Brien went second, Stephane Caron in the #99, Rob Poloski in the #43, and Gyger completed the top five.
The field was again inverted final the third and final segment of twenty-five laps. This time it was Wyman taking the checkers in his new #88. Wyman was followed to the stripe by the courageous and tough Kevin Scott Hockman, racing with broken ribs from a wreck a few weeks back. Bryant, O'Brien, and Gyger completed the top five.
After totalling up the points from all three segments, the overall winner was Rusty Bryant, second went to Gyger, and the third spot was claimed by O'Brien in his #16 machine. Gyger was recognized as the 2011 champion of the division.
The JA Corey Outlaws had a smaller than normal field, due to the weather forecast and the PASS Sportsman racers being rescheduled at Oxford on the same day as Riverside. Jourdan Davis and Tiger Tour competitor Brian Gosselin brought the field to green for their 50 lapper. The Outlaws went all 50 laps without caution. Davis was able to keep Gosselin behind him to take the win. Gosselin had a rear view mirror full of veteran Doug Laleme in #74 to make it into victory lane. Matt LeBlanc finished fourth with Mike Paquett rounding out the top five. 2011 champion Chandler Davis had a very anxious moment when the transmisson let go during warm-up laps. Davis came into pit prior to the start of the feature and had his tires put on the #97 of Alex Rooney's racer. That move enabled Davis to lay claim to the 2011 championship.
It was the big Frostbite 250 that came out for their feature, 45 racers strong. Speedway officials decided to put all the racers on an even racing surface by adding some cooking oil and water to turns one and two. The racers tip toed through the turn and displayed great driving skills, keeping their racers from leaving the track. Laird, Jason Wyman, and Cody LeBlanc, all shared early leader status through the first 100 laps.
Just as it appeared that the track was beginning to get racy, Mother Nature opened up and completely drenched the racing surface. LeBlanc was the first victim of the rain, making hard contact with the front stretch wall and destroying his car. Drivers that kept their windshield wipers appeared to have the upper hand, skillfully maneuvering in and out of traffic. When it was all said and done, Laird had completed the 250 laps first. Wyman, Nick Pilotte, Ricky Dennis, and Jeff Spooner rounded out the top five.
Wyman was then called back to center stage, receiving the spoils of a championship season in the Jiffy Mart Cyclone division.
The next event for the speedway will be its banquet of champions, to be held on November 12th. For all of your up to the minute racing news, you can check out the speedway's web site at www.riversidespeedway.org.

Luke Shannon wins Fall Free For
All, Belanger and Marshall capture Riverside Speedway
Championships
Groveton’s Luke Shannon scored a pair of
50 lap victories and went on to take the overall Late Model
event held during the Absolute Powersports of NH and RV/Passumpsic
Bank “Fall Free For All” on Saturday in Groveton.
The Late Models drew for their starting positions for segment #1 and WMMP’s Stacy Cahoon brought the 19 car field to green. Riverside regular and outside pole sitter Corey Mason was strong in his #1 and took command of the race early. By lap six Mason had a rear view mirror of rookie driver Luke Shannon in the #13. Mason held off Shannon on a couple of restarts on some minor cautions. Finally Shannon made his car stick on the outside and on lap 15 there was a new leader. Mason refused to go away and dogged Shannon for the remainder of the event. Mike Kenison started 15th and took a third place, while 2011 Late Model Champion Jeff Marshall drove from his 12th place starting spot to finish fourth. WMMP’s Tyler Cahoon was impressive in traffic finishing fifth after starting 17th.
The field was inverted for the second fifty laps segment. Prior to the start of the 50 lapper, long time Riverside competitor, Steve Patnaude, put together a group of past Riverside Speedway Late Model Champions and introduced them one by one. Ed Shufelt, Earl May Jr, Aaron Bennett, Greg Stiles for his brother Steve Stiles, Stacy Cahoon, Mike Paquett, Owen Wimble, Ed “Midge” Rosebrook, Steve Burgess, Cory Mason. Bryan Mason, and Dave Shufelt were all introduced to the fans in attendance. There wasn’t a dry eye in the infield, when Patnaude announced that Steve Stiles was enshrined into the Speedway’s Hall of Fame for 2011. Greg Stiles spoke briefly to the crowd and was deeply moved by the Speedway’s jesture of honoring of his brother Steve.
The second segment saw a pair of young guns battle side by side for the first 10 laps. Jeremy Davis and Nick Gilcris went door to door, until Gilcris made it by. The events’ only caution flew on lap 13 for a spin out and on the restart, Gilcris took to the front. His lead was short lived as Caanan Speedway’s Donnie Lashua got by Gilcris on lap 15. Lashua had Bryan Mason and Brandon Lambert nipping at his heels. By lap 21 Mason was on the point and a had rear view mirror full of the #32 of Marshall. Smoke could be seen coming from the rear of Mason’s #10 Chevy and at the halfway mark, Marshall took to the front. Shannon and Kenison had worked their way through to the front and began to pressure Marshall. On Lap 34 Shannon was put to the test on the outside and finally settled in front of Marshall by lap 39. Mason’s day ended after a faulty transmission seal leaked oil and was black flagged.
As the checkers waived, it was Shannon, Marshall, Brandon Lambert, Kenison, and Lashua in the top five. Overall, the rookie Shannon was the winner, with Marshall second, Kenison third, Lambert fourth, and Cory Mason fifth. Rounding out the top ten were, Tyler Cahoon, Paul Schartner III, Lashua, Stacy Cahoon, and Howie Switser.
The Caron Building Center/Sign Depot Daredevil division had ten racers. The kids raced a 25 lap feature for a four foot trophy. The feature had just two cautions and was won by Kristian Switser in his #16. Second went to Jared Plumley, third to #1 of Anthony Lacoss, fourth was Tyler Austin and fifth to the #18 of Cody Smith. Qualifying wins went to Plumley and Lacoss.
The Budweiser Super Stocks went 25 laps with 2011 Champion Matt Carbone the winner. Shawn Hood, Scott Vien, Ray Eames, and Lucas Wheeler rounded out the top five.
The Town & Country Motor Inn Street Stocks had two 30 lap events. In the first race, Ben Belanger carried the checkers. Jamie Heath, Jason Kenison, William Hennequen, and Nick Pilotte completed the top five for the first Segment. The second thirty laps had Belanger work his way through the field to take the top spot. Kenison raced home second and Gorham’s Cody LeBlanc finished third. The overall top five were Belanger, Kenison, Heath, LeBlanc, and Pilotte.
The last race of the day was the 100 lap Jiffy Mart Cyclone Enduro. Twenty-Four racers lined up and began their battle for 100 laps. Several hard hits into the front stretch concrete and three wide racing, kept the fans on the edge of their seats. When the dust settled, Maine’s Jamie Heath was the winner, lapping everyone except runner-up Jason Wyman. Chris Ouellette, Jeff Ainsworth, and Cody LeBlanc rounded out the top five. Heat wins went to Nick Pilotte, Ouellette, and Wyman.
The final racing date of the 2011 season takes place this coming Saturday October 15th at 1PM. The Frostbite 250 is sponsored by Ouellette Trucking and pays a whopping $3000 to win. Over 50 cars are expected to take the green in search of the big pay day. Also on the card will be championship crowning races for the Outlaw Sportsman Open for 75 laps, The ladies battling in the Angels division, and a Dwarf Car open in which several Canadian teams are expected to be on hand. Pits open at 8AM, grandstands at 11 AM, with the racing beginning promptly at 1 PM.

Riverside Speedway to close out
2011 with two huge Events
After a two week layoff, the sound of
roaring engines will once again fill the North East at Groveton
NH's Riverside Speedway beginning this Saturday at 1 PM.
Absolute PowerSports of NH and Passumpsic Savings Bank present
the annual "Fall Free For All" that will include two 50 lap Late
Model races, two 30 lap Street Stock races, a 14 and under four
cylinder youth race for a four foot trophy, a TBA Super Stock
race, and a 100 lap 4&6&8 cylinder Cyclone/Enduro race.
"Many tracks have closed their doors for 2011," said Riverside General Manager Jean LeBlanc. "The (Fall Free For All) began a few years ago and has blossomed into a great racing event for several area racers. We get a lot of racers from different tracks to come and take on our regulars. Just to name a few drivers coming for the Late Model event will be Stacy Cahoon, Tyler Cahoon, Donnie Lashua, Sulo Burbank, and others. This year we will celebrate a couple of championships on the front stretch after the features of the Late Models and Street Stocks. It gives our fans a chance to witness the divisional champions and their respective race team up close and personal. Its a nice way for our champions to be recognized."
There will be several tracks represented at the "Fall Free For All". WMMP, Canaan, Oxford Plains Speedway, Lee, Star, and Hudson racers have all contacted the speedway for the rules of competition. The price for the grand stands will not change. Pit fees will be $25 with an administrative fee for any outside drivers obtaining a one day license at $15.
"The weather appears to be almost perfect for Friday and Saturday afternoons," said LeBlanc. "What better way to spend a Saturday than to watch drivers from several different tracks take on your own local racers. Its going to be very exciting!"
The speedway will have a practice test and tune session on Friday afternoon beginning at 3:30 PM until dark. Cost for the session in the pits will be $10 for licensed personal and $15 for non-licensed. The gate price is free for the grandstands and there will be free camping for the weekend.
The following weekend, Ouellette Trucking out of Milan NH will be sponsoring the gran-daddy of then all the "Frostbite 250", a $3000 to win four & six cylinder enduro. Also on the card, that is gaining huge outside interest, is a 75 lap Outlaw/Sportsman event, a Dwarf car time trial and two 25 lap race, and a four cylinder Angel race.
"Even though we may lose a couple of PASS competitors because of a re-scheduled Oxford race, we are getting several drivers that race Outlaws at Star and Hudson interested," said LeBlanc. "I still anticipate seeing a field of 20+ outlaw racers to show up. I also spoke to Dwarf car racer Michel Dion out of Canada. He and two other cars came to our event last season. This year, he says a minimum of seven racers will be coming on the 15th to race."
The Frost Bite 250 will be in its sixth season in 2011. Four time winner, Luke Shannon, just confirmed his entry into the race. Shannon's storied #13 ride may be history in a recent telephone interview. "I may be there in something different this year," said Shannon. "The old car is a little tired and we may be building something in the next week or two."
2011 Cyclone champion Jason Wyman has entered the race and is a heavy favorite for the huge payday. Add into the fray several of the top Cyclone racers in Jeff Ainsworth, Dana Graham, Cole Kilby, Chris Ouellette, William Good, Travis Moulton, Jerrad Ainsworth, Cody LeBlanc and an always talented group of outsiders, and you have the makings of an awesome event.

O’Donnell wins Johnny Clark
Memorial 101 at Riverside Speedway
Bradford, VT’s Derrick O’Donnell came from
the eighth place starting position and took the lead after Joe
Steffen suffered a flat tire on a restart and went on to win the
second annual Johnny Clark Memorial 101 ACT Bond/WIX Tiger Tour
race at Riverside Speedway in Groveton Saturday.
Other feature winners on White Mountain Distributors and Budweiser night included Luke Shannon, Dean Switser, Bear Lapan, Shawna Whitcomb, Jason Wyman, Cody Smith, and Jared Plumley.
O’Donnell strengthened his tour point lead with the win. The 00 of Steffen lead early before giving up the lead to the #4 of Bobby Therrien on the first restart of the event. Therrien rocketed to the point, putting plenty of distance between he and the rest of the field. Therrien led the next seven laps before pitting on the second caution of the day handing the lead back to Steffen. Steffen looked well on his way to stay up front for the remainder of the race, until he and O’Donnell had contact coming to green during the next to last restart. Steffen had to pit to repair a right front flat tire.
The #68 of O’Donnell put some distance between himself and runner-up finisher Tony Rossi in the 90. The final 35 plus laps stayed green.
A sensational battle for the final podium spot took place between Brendan Moodie, Eric Badore and Therrien. At the line, Moodie nipped Badore by inches while Therrien settled for fifth. Joey Roberts, Jason Bonnett, Tucker Williams, Dylan Payea and Steffen completed the top ten.
In the Caron Building Center/Sign Depot Daredevil division, Jared Plumley, Tyler Austin, and Anthony Lacoss went 1,2,3 in the veteran class. In the rookies, Cody Smith, Colby Bourgeios, and Nicole Ouellette were the top three for the rookies.
Woodsville NH’s Jason Wyman took to the front of the field on lap 16 and pulled away to capture the Jiffy Mart Cyclone feature. Chris Ouellette piloted his sputtering #81 to the runner-up finish with the #7 of Cody LeBlanc, the #9 of Dana Graham, and the 41 of Jeff Ainsworth rounding out the top five. Ouellette and Graham won the qualifying races.
In the Griffin Family Angel division, point leader Shawna Whitcomb put an exclamation mark onto her fine season, by winning the Angel feature. Whitcomb was followed to the line by newcomer Vicky Wyman, Tina Leveille, Vanessa Brown, and Nicole Ouellette. The heat race victory went to Leveille.
The Town & Country Motor Inn Street Stocks’ hottest driver, Dean Switser, took the lead on lap 21 to win the main event. Point leader, Ben Belanger, Jason Kenison, Cody LeBlanc, and William Hennequen were all top five finishers. Rookie Matt Schartner and Switser won the qualifying races.
The Twisted Tea Dwarf cars survived a hard crash during the feature that eliminated three cars. Bear Lapan in his #18 came from the back of the pack passing Dave Gyger on the final lap to win the 25 lap race. Gyger and Dennis O’Brien put on an excellent display of side by side racing. Lapan reach the duo with under five laps to go and used lap traffic to get past Gyger. The #20 of Bobby Riley was fourth and the #44 of Anthony Leary completed the top five. Rod Knudson won the heat race.
The North Country Ford Late Models had one of the scariest crashes of 2011 during qualifying. The #72 of Cody Hodge and the #25 of Jesse Switser had contact out of turn four. Both cars veered into the front stretch wall. The Hodge car climbed the wall and crashed hard into the fence. The #72 was torn apart and rolled violently to the infield. The Orleans Vermont youngster was able to climb from his race car unhurt. Unfortunately, his car was completely destroyed.
In the feature, rookie driver Luke Shannon, powered his way around the #12 of driver Brett Gervais to win his second feature of the year. Brandon Lambert finished third, Jeff Marshall fourth, and Mike Kenison rolled home fifth. Gervais and Shannon won the heat events.
Riverside Speedway will take a couple of weeks off, so that local racers can enjoy the Milk Bowl held at Barre Vermonts’ Thunder Road.
The high banks will hold its final two events of 2011 on Saturday October 8th and Saturday October 15th at 1 PM. On the 8th it will be the Fall Free for All. There will be open events for Late Models, Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Cyclones/Enduro, and Daredevils. On the 15th, it will be the grand daddy of them all, the $3000 to win Frostbite 250. Belanger and Wyman capture triple
crown racing series titles at Riverside Speedway
Whitefield’s Ben Belanger captured top
honors in round three of the Bond Auto Parts street stock triple
crown racing series and Woodsville’s Jason Wyman had strong
runner-up showing in his 100 lap event, capturing the Kids Only
Day Care triple crown series for the Cyclones at Riverside
Speedway Saturday.
It was Jiffy Mart, Eastman Trophy, and Bond Auto Parts/Make-A-Wish night at the ¼ mile speed plant. Fans were treated to several distance features that had championship point battles on the line. The racing concluded in under four and a half hours with plenty of side by side racing.
In the Town & Country division, Belanger appeared to be heading for a runner-up finish in the 50 lap street stock main event. Team mate Nick Pilotte was out front and had mechanical problems rear its ugly head on lap 44. That shuffled the front runners with Belanger taking the front spot. Belanger finished the final eight circuits for the victory. The #16 of Dean Switser and the #7 of Cody LeBlanc took podium finishes. William Hennequen and Dana Graham rounded out the top five. Heat wins went to Graham and Jason Kenison.
Wyman and Pilotte were tied in points after two previous events in the Cyclone/Enduro triple crown series. Wyman took to the point in the 100 lap feature, after a great battle with Milan’s Chris Ouellette. Waterville Maine’s Jamie Heath worked past Wyman in the latter stages of the race to take the overall victory. Wyman, Ouellette, LeBlanc, and Lorin Vear all finished in the top five.
The JA Corey/US Cellular Outlaw/Sportsman feature was an old fashioned hard driving event that had several point battles in the top ten on the line. When the dust settled, Gorham’s Matt LeBlanc worked his way on the outside of new comer Bruce Melandy to win his second feature of the year. Chan Davis, Melandy, Ron Watson, and Mike Paquett were all top five finishers. Heat victories were won by Melandy and Jourdon Davis.
The Sign Depot/Caron Building Center Daredevils saw the rookie top three finish with the #82 Colby Bourgeios carrying the checkers. Cody Smith and Nicole Ouellette completed the top three. The #12 of Jared Plumley won the veteran race. Kristian Switser and Anthony Lacoss crossed the stripe behind Plumley.
The Griffin Family Angels were thirteen strong for their day of racing. The ladies raced three 25 lap segments, inverting their field after each segment. At the end of the day, current point leader Shawna Whitcomb captured the overall title in her #21. 50/50 ticket seller, Heather Hodge had a solid day taking the runner-up spot with Vermont’s Vanessa Brown in the third finishing spot. 2010 champion Allison Barney, substituting for Carrie Dunn finished fourth, with Milan’s Tina Leveille completed the top five.
The Speedway in Groveton, NH will be the place to be on Saturday September 17th. The ACT Tiger Tour will be making their annual visit to the high banks for the Johnny Clark Memorial 101. Riverside’s Late Models, Dwarf Cars, Street Stocks, Angels, Cyclones, and Daredevils, will also be on the card. Divisional point battles are on the line for several divisions. The racing action begins at 1 PM and has a rain date of Sunday September 18th beginning at 1 PM.

Huge Racing program on tap
during Riverside’s Fan Appreciation
Night Saturday
After a couple of weeks off, the sound of
racing motors will again be heard this Saturday night at
Groveton, NH’s Riverside Speedway. It will be the Jiffy Mart/
Bond Auto Parts/ Eastman Trophy and Kids Only Day Care Fan
Appreciation night on Saturday September 10th at the 1/4 mile
oval, beginning at 4 PM.
“Wow what a show we are going to have,” said General Manager Jean LeBlanc. “First and foremost our family will be hosting a 2 for 1 fan appreciation night. That allows two adults in for the price of one. We have some of the best racing fans in the northeast and it's our way of saying thanks.”
On the racing card, the Angel division will be running three 25-lap races. After each race, the field will be inverted with the winner earning one point, second place two points and so on. The driver that accumulates the fewest points after the three races will be the overall winner.
The Speedway will also have two Triple Crown series that will be concluded on Saturday. The Bond Auto Parts Street Stock Triple Crown Series has had 20 plus cars enter in each of their first two races. That title is up for grabs and may see some local invaders from other tracks. The track is allowing the Thunder Road Street Stocks to run their cars as is. The Cyclones will be running their 100 lap event, so there may have up to 30 cars trying to qualify for the 50 lap feature. Ben Belanger #99 leads the series at 114 points, followed by Jamie Swallow Jr. in the #04x at 108 points and in third place is the hard charging Jason Kenison with 104 points.
The other series that is set crown a champion is the Kids Only Day Care Cyclone/Enduro series. The distance is 100 laps and currently the top five drivers are just 20 points a part. Leader Jason Wyman #88 and Nick Pilotte #11 are deadlocked at 198 points. Dana Graham #9- 190, Cyclone point leader Cole Kilby #66- 188, and Jeff Ainsworth #41- 178 points, all have a legitimate shot at a title.
The JA Corey/US Cellular Outlaw/Sportsman points battle will take center stage as Riverside Speedway’s fastest growing division will run a 35 lap feature event. “The Outlaws continue to be one of the most exciting divisions at Riverside Speedway,” said LeBlanc. “We have good point battles through out the standings for the championship and rookie of the year honors. We have been getting a few new drivers as of late and it won’t be long before our field reaches 20 cars. That would be spectacular.”
The other divisions on hand for the special evening will include the Youth Daredevils and the Twisted Tea Dwarf cars.
You can check out the speedway’s web site at www.riversidespeedway.org, for all the latest racing news and notes.

Riverside Speedway announces revised Schedule for the remainder of 2011
Riverside Speedway management is pleased
to announce that the speedway was very fortunate and may have
dodged a huge obstacle with the recent hurricane that struck the
Northeast.
“We prepared for the worst and I think we got very lucky,” said General manager Jean LeBlanc. “I know that our neighboring speedways took it really hard and we can certainly relate to what they have to go through. All we can do is offer our hand and if they need help, we are going to do what ever we can to get them back underway.”
The Riverside management team got together and revised their final race dates to maximize its point races.
“Because of the numerous rain dates that we endured this season, we have changed some of our final races, to give our race teams a chance in their individual point races,” said LeBlanc. “We wanted to give our racers at least two more point nights and we were able to accomplish that with our final four events. Special thanks go out to White Mountain Distributors and Budweiser, to help us in doing this.”
Riverside Speedway will have a huge night when the racing resumes on Saturday September 10th. “It will be a fan appreciation night, where two adults can get in for the price of one,” stated LeBlanc. “We are running triple 25 lap features for the ladies, the third segments of their triple crown racing series for both the Street Stocks and the Cyclones, the Outlaw/Sportsman, Dwarfs, and Daredevils.“ Racing action begins at 4 PM.
On Saturday September 17th, it will be the second running of the Johnny Clark Memorial 101, with ACT Tiger/Sportsman Tour invading the high banks. On the Riverside card, it will be Late Models, Dwarf Cars, Angels, Street Stocks, Daredevils, and the champion will be crowned for the Jiffy Mart Cyclones. Racing starts at 1 PM.
That will conclude the September portion of the Riverside schedule, as teams will get a couple of weeks off to prepare for the final two events of the season in October.
“Our “Fall Free for All” will definitely have a little twist for our racers,” said LeBlanc. “It will be the final point events for our Late Models and Street Stocks. We usually get a few teams that come and take part in the “Fall Free for All”. Those drivers will not be considered in the point rankings, if they haven’t raced in more than three events. The LMS (50) and Streets (30) will have just two features and will have their field inverted for the second race. The driver that accumulates the fewest points will be the winner. In keeping with tradition, we will have our big trophy race for the kids and have included an open race for our Super Stocks. Hopefully we can draw in racers from both WMMP and Caanan.”
The Speedway will close out 2011 with the granddaddy of them all, the Frost Bite 250 on Saturday October 15th beginning at 1 PM. This event has caught on so well over the last couple of years, that the speedway has already received calls from drivers to reserve their car numbers. “What a way to end 2011,” said LeBlanc. “We are crowning our champions in the Outlaw, Dwarf, and Angel divisions. We have received some phone calls from some Sportsman drivers in Maine, that want to take part in that event. They have friends coming for the enduro 250 event, so we will make it a $750 to win 75 lap Outlaw race, culminating with the crowning of our 2011 champion. It is shaping up to be a sensational final four events at Riverside Speedway.”
For applications for the up-coming Frost Bite 250, you can go to the speedway’s web site at www.riversidespeedway .org.
Groveton’s own Randy Potter
captures “Clash of the Titans”
at Riverside Speedway
Dale Earnhardt Sr. got the thrill of a
lifetime finally winning the Daytona 500 and the congratulatory
response afterwards came from his closest rivals, fellow racers,
and fans. Although in a much smaller capacity, Groveton’s own
Randy Potter took over the lead on lap 106 and held off Pelham’s
Wayne Helliwell Jr. and the hard charging Quinney Welch from
Lancaster, to win the 2011 Munce’s Superior/Central Asphalt
Paving “Clash of the Titans” 150 at Riverside Speedway in
Groveton, NH Sunday.
“This is awesome,” said Potter in victory lane. “To win a big race like this is great and its even better because this is my home.”
In victory lane it was a feeling of respect from ACT regular Wayne Helliwell Jr. and WMMP’s top gun Quinney Welch. The smiles on their faces after a hard fought 150 laps of racing said it all. Welch started on the outside pole and looked invincible for the first 92 laps. Helliwell took charge on lap 94 after a restart. However the bright orange #27 had a rear view mirror of the #02 and Randy Potter. Caution flew on lap 103 allowing Welch to duck into the pits for tires. Welch set a torrid pace to run down the leaders coming from the back of the pack.
After three restarts on lap 104, Potter worked hard on the outside and took the lead by lap 106. Helliwell stayed close to Potter, looking for any slip up by the hometown kid. The duo worked their way through lapped traffic and by lap 134; Welch was back in the top three. Caution free racing over the final 40+ laps kept the final three in those positions. Potter celebrated a satisfying win in victory lane, where he began his racing at the young age of 16.
Lancaster Auto Sales of Lancaster NH, sponsored time trialing on the previous night for the Late Models. Bobby Baillargeon of Kingston NH clicked off the fast time of 13.29 seconds. Riverside regular Jesse Switser was second at 13.32, and Jeff Marshall third at 13.38. Heat wins went to Chip Grenier, Quinney Welch, and Eric Williams. Mike Kenison carried checkers in the consolation race.
The Budweiser Super stocks completed their 2011-point championship season with young gun Nick Gilcris winning the feature. Matt Carbone was in the runner-up spot, however capturing the point championship for the second straight season. David Allen, Trevor Roy, and Allison Barney rounded out the top five.
It was race #1 in the chase for the Jiffy Mart Cyclone division. Current point leader Cole Kilby made a statement taking the 25-lap event. Jason Wyman, Travis Moulton, Jerrad Ainsworth and Dana Graham finished in the top five. Moulton and Chris Ouellette were winners in the qualifying races.
The Thunder Road Street Stocks came to Riverside Speedway, to take on the Riverside regulars. The field of 26 had their event halted after rain forced managements hand to pick up the event at Thunder Road during Labor Day Weekend.
On Saturday evening, the racing was hard and grinding for the JA Corey/US Cellular Outlaws. 2010 champion Dan Sidney battled all night long and captured the event. Chandler Davis and Mike Paquett survived to get to the podium. Newcomer Cody Benoit and rookie Aaron Smith were top five finishers. David Ofsuryk and Davis carried the checkers in their respective heats.
The Caron Building Center/Sign Depot Daredevils ran together. The veterans saw Tyler Austin win from his pole position. Kristian Switser, Jared Plumley, and Anthony Lacoss followed Austin. Cody Smith led all the way for the rookies. Nicole Ouellette, Matt Kopp and Colby Bourgeios finished two, three, and four for the newest drivers.
Vanessa Brown got to the front early in the Griffin Family Angel division and then held off the hard charging Lyndsay Christman to carry the winner’s flag. Jenna Randall, Tracie Ball, and Shawna Whitcomb rounded out the top five. Brown won the heat event.
Groveton’s Jason Kenison got by early leader Cody LeBlanc and rolled to the Town & Country Motor Inn Street Stock victory. Dean Switser, LeBlanc, Rob Isham, and Ben Belanger all placed in the top five. LeBlanc and Switser were the heat winners.
The Twisted Tea Dwarf cars saw first time winner Rod Knudson hold off the hard charging Dave Gyger for his first feature victory. Bear Lapan, Aric Cole, and Dennis O’Brien had top five finishes. Heat wins went to Jeremy Labrecque and Bear Lapan.
This coming Saturday will be round #3 for the Town & Country Street Stock Bond Auto Parts triple Crown series. It is Make-A-Wish night at the speedway that will include Late Models, Dwarf cars, Angels, Daredevils, and the 50 lapper for the Street Stocks. It will be the final “night” event of the season at Riverside Speedway beginning at 6 PM.

Jake McDowell was a young man that loved
race cars and lived life to the fullest. Jake had a passion for
the sport of auto racing and his infectious smile would leave
everyone that came in touch with him, a little better person.
Jake’s #19 Street Stock that paces the field prior to the start of the event was the car that he would have driven, if his life had not been taken away at such a young age. Jake was a friend to just about everyone that knew him. He was basically know as the Pied Piper to the Daredevil Youth racers in the pit area. You could always find him helping out one of them trying to make their car handle better, run stronger and be competitive. He always strived for sportsmanship to the youngsters and urged them to work with each other and become good racers for the right reasons.
Jake is surely missed at home and at Riverside Speedway. He loved being a part of this sport, and he loved life in general as he lived life to the fullest. Jake was our friend and will never be forgotten. Jake McDowell, etched a place in our hearts that will forever remain his own little space. Jake can now see racing in heaven with his familiar #19, where he has won many a championships, but most of all has won the hearts of all that have come in contact. Jake McDowell, forever a friend.

Riverside Speedway Late Model
Drivers
set to run with the best in the Northeast
This coming Sunday at Riverside Speedway,
Central Asphalt Paving and Munce’s Superior present the third
annual running of the “Clash of the Titans” 150 lap $5000 to win
Late Model race in Groveton starting at 1 PM.
Wayne Helliwell Jr and Quinney Welch have been the prior winners, however it is Groveton’s own Randy Potter that is itching to get his hands on the title of the race that has eluded him in the first two seasons.
“The Riverside race teams have really stepped up their programs this season,” said General Manager Jean LeBlanc. “I believe the outside teams will be in for a real challenge this year. Jeff Marshall has been red hot since the Oxford 250 and Bryan Mason has work himself back into title contention. Jesse Switser was the faster time trialer last year and he finished in the top 10 in the race. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see his car running in the top five all race long.”
Island Pond Vermont’s Brett Gervais has been running very strong as of late and Corey Mason is coming off a huge payday taking the two day Late Model race during Summerfest. “We have some really competitive teams that have put on some awesome racing and finishes this year,” said LeBlanc. “Rookie Luke Shannon has recently won, and young racers Brandon Lambert and Paul Schartner III are no second rate racers. Derek Ming came to our last Late Model event and had a strong run from the back of the pack. All in all it looks like things are shaping up to be another super Sunday of racing.”
Riverside Speedway will have the Thunder Road Street Stocks coming to the Groveton track for an event. Expect 20-25 racers to make the trek across the border. Add to that a couple of Riverside regulars joining their feature and it should be a great race. The Budweiser Super Stocks will be running their final points race to crown their 2011 champion and the first race for the chase will take place for the Jiffy Mart Cyclones.
On Saturday night, Lancaster Auto Sales will be sponsoring the time trials and run for the pole. The fastest Late Model and Outlaw Sportsman drivers will receive a $250 bonus. For the Late Models, the fastest three time trialers will get to start on the pole position for their qualifying races. The Outlaws will be in action for a 50 lap $500 to win feature while the Daredevils, Street Stocks, Angels, and Dwarf Cars will all be on the card for the Saturday show. Look for several of the Thunder Road Street Stockers to join the Riverside regulars on Saturday night. Racing starts at 6 PM on Saturday.

Jeff Marshall captures Clash of the
Titans Qualifier at Riverside Speedway
Red hot Riverside Speedway Lat Model
driver, Jeff Marshall, made a bold and daring move on the
outside on the final lap of the Late Model feature and nipped
Stark NH’s Bryan Mason at the finish line to capture the Sign
Depot/Kingdom Embroidery “Clash of the Titan” qualifying race at
Riverside Speedway Saturday in Groveton. Other winners on the
night included Luke Shannon, Anthony Lacoss, Colby Bourgeious,
Shawna Whitcomb, Aric Cole, Nick Pilotte, and Dean Switser.
The evening began with a make-up Late Model feature. Rookie driver Luke Shannon battled Groveton’s Corey Mason on the outside and got to the front on lap 30. The racing was spectacular with the top five cars all door to door and bumper to bumper. At the line Shannon held off the hard charging Marshall for the win, Mason finished third with the #77 of Brandon Lambert fourth and the #31 of Derek Ming fifth.
In the feature for the automatic starting spot for the up coming “Clash of the Titans”, Lyndon Vermont’s Paul Schartner III brought the field to green. Schartner held the competition at bay until the #10 of Bryan Mason assumed command on lap 21. Great racing in the middle of the pack, allowed the #31 of Ming to break free and begin his chase of Mason. Marshall had a five car length distance to make-up as he reached the top three with 10 laps remaining. Marshall got past Ming with just seven laps to go as the #32 racer got to Mason’s back bumper on the white flag lap. A loose handling car off the corner on the back stretch allowed Marshall to reach the outside door of Mason’s #10. Marshall drove his car in a ton into the final turn, reaching the third groove. Mason’s car again would not get the needed bite off the corner and Marshall squeezed perfectly between the front stretch wall and Mason to take the electrifying victory. “I’ve got to thank the car owner and the crew for giving me this chance,” said an exhausted and smiling Marshall in victory lane. “I wasn’t sure it would stick way up in the top groove, but it did and I am very happy.“ Bryan Mason, Ming, Corey Mason, and Brett Gervais rounded out the top five. Qualifying wins went to Cody Hodge and Marshall.
The Caron Building Center and the Sign Depot Daredevils ran their features together. Anthony Lacoss in his #1 race car carried the checkers for the veterans and the #82 of Colby Bourgioes captured the rookie division checkers.
Shawn Whitcomb continued her winning ways with a victory in the Griffin family Angel division. Tracie Nelson took the runner-up spot, with Milan’s Tina Leveille taking third. Vanessa Brown in her #41 race car, carried the winner’s flag in the heat race.
The Twisted Tea Dwarf cars were well represented. Twelve cars in the pits and ready to set sail on the high banked quarter mile. The #27 of Aric Cole got his first feature win of the division, beating the hard charging Dave Gyger to the finish line. Veteran driver, Sparky Lapan, raced home third. The steady Kevin Hockman drove his #33 machine to fourth place and the #21 of Jeremy Labrecque had a solid night taking home a top five.
The Budweiser Super Stocks saw Trevor Roy get to the front early. However, the rookie could not hold off defending champion Matt Carbone and young gun Nick Gilcris. Carbone rolled to the victory with Gilcris in hot pursuit. Roy, Stephen Donahue, and David Allen rounded out the top five. Roy carried the spoils of victory in the qualifying race.
The Jiffy Mart Cyclones were 20 strong in numbers. The action was all over the track that eventually saw the #11 of Nick Pilotte take the lead from Nick Miller with just three laps to go. Miller finished a great night in the runner-up spot. Dana Graham, Chris Ouellette, and Chris Caron all finished in the top five. Heat wins went to Miller and Cole Kilby.
The Town & Country Motor Inn saw just eight cars take the green. However the top three cars put on a spectacular display of on the edge of your seat racing. Veteran Dean Switser captured his first feature of 2011. Jason Kenison went third with Tom Sokolis and the #57 of Matt Schartner in fifth. The )3 of Kenison won the heat event.

Mother Nature Slows
Riverside Again
Rains forced Riverside Speedway to end
their Sunday afternoon racing, keeping four racing divisions off
the quarter mile high banked track for their feature races.
Winners of the Griffin Family sponsored events that were able to
be run in their entirety included Daredevil racers Nicole
Ouellette and Tyler Austin, the Cyclone’s Dana Graham, Dwarf car
driver Dennis O’Brien, and Street Stocker Jason Kenison.
It was North Country Special Olympian and Kids Pit tours sponsored by the Griffin Family. The groups were allowed out into the pit area prior to the start of racing and enjoyed tons of goodies furnished by the racers and their teams. A special visit from the Cookie Monster and numerous toys and bikes were handed out with the children being the biggest winners.
The North Country Special Olympians were also big winners. Riverside Speedway management donated $125 to the Olympians and then had to double that amount when Berlin resident Nick Griffin nailed a 100 yard golf shot hitting an 8’x16’ tarp, getting the speedway to double their donation to $250. The Griffin family matched the Speedway’s donation and $500 is on its way to the North Country Olympian athletes.
The racing continues to be some of the most competitive around. In the Sign Depot Daredevil rookie division, Nicole Ouellette made her move early and got to the front to take the feature win. Kyleigh Gilcris in her #2 finished second and the very steady Matt Kopp in his #16 Ford was third. The heat win went to Gilcris. The Caron Building Center veterans put on a whale of a show with East Calais Vermont’s Tyler Austin getting a feature win on the final corner. Anthony Lacoss was second and Kristian Switser third. Lacoss captured the heat victory.
The Jiffy Mart Cyclones were out in force and the division known as the crunch bunch lived up to their reputation. The number 9 of Dana Graham final overcame his recent motor trouble, pulling away for his feature win. Cole Kilby finished in the runner-up position, with invader Jason Welch finishing third. Qualifying wins went to Graham and Chris Ouellette.
Dennis O’Brien over came his previous week’s equipment failures and drove his way into victory lane in the Twisted Tea Dwarf car feature. Rookie Dwarf car racer Aric Cole made a statement in his first race ever in a Dwarf car, powering his #27 into the runner-up position after starting last. Division point leader Dave Gyger raced home third. Heat checkers were carried by O’Brien and Bobby Riley.
Jason Kenison grabbed the lead on the very first lap and never looked back, rolling to the feature victory in the Town & Country Motor Inn Street Stock race. Kenison was followed by Dean Switser and Jamie Swallow Jr. Tom Sokolis and Brett Rowell rounded out the top five. Kenison and Sokolis carried the checkered flag in the heat races.
Mother nature took hold of the speedway and stopped the remaining four feature events. The dates for the cancelled racing features will be made up by a press release from the speedway, some time this week.
The July fourth week is upon us and the Speedway has two big events in store. On Friday night July 1st it will be the second annual classic car show sponsored by Schurman Motors from 4-7 PM. round #1 of the Bond Auto Parts Triple Crown racing series
underway this past Saturday night in Groveton. However, Mother
Nature had other ideas and after several hours of waiting,
management pulled the plug and moved the event to this coming
weekend.
“We had 23 Street Stocks that were ready to go to battle,” said General manager Jean LeBlanc. “We had cars from Thunder Road, WMMP, Oxford, and Riverside Speedways ready to run for the $500 top prize. Some of the area tracks had cancelled early and we had a solid field of Late Models, ready to do battle, with names like Randy Potter, Quinney Welch, the Mason boys, Russ Clark, Jeff Marshall, Jesse Switser, Luke Shannon and our weekly racers. We tried hard to get the event started. We just didn’t get the break in the weather we were looking for.”
That has the speedway preparing for a sensational night of racing this coming Saturday night June 18th, starting at 5 PM. “This Saturday we will be celebrating Town & Country Motor Inn/Bond Auto Parts and Amoskeag Beverage night,” said LeBlanc. We will be running the first leg of the Bond Auto Parts Triple Crown series for the Street Stocks. Also on the card will be the triple 25 features for the Twisted Tea Dwarf cars, who have invited some of the top Dwarf car drivers in New England to take on the locals. In addition, the Super Stocks will open the night with a make-up feature from two weeks ago. The JA Corey/US Cellular Outlaws are in action and the division has doubled in size to 15 cars. The Griffin Family Angels and the Daredevils will also be involved making the race card as one of the busiest in the North Country.”
Pit gates open at 1 PM with practice set for 2 PM grandstand will open at 3 PM. For all of your up to the minute racing news, visit the website at www.riversidespeedway.org. Riverside Speedway is a PASS sanctioned and ACT affiliated ¼ high banked asphalt track located off of Brown Road in Groveton NH.

Jesse Switser captures closest
Riverside Speedway Late Model finish ever
Opening day racing was taken to the next
level at Groveton’s Riverside Speedway Sunday, during the Napa
Spectacular/Bobby Shores Memorial/Caron Building Center Spring
Fling.
Spectacular finishes in the Street Stock and Dwarf car features, were just a prelude to what was in store for the Late Model division.
In the North Country Ford Late Model feature, three time champion Bryan Mason took to the front and held off all challenges. Vermont’s Jesse Switser took to the outside on lap 35 and began a final five lap door handle to door handle battle with Mason. The duo were inseparable and raced without making contact with one another for the remainder of feature. As the checkers flew, officials had the number 10 of Mason edging out Switser. “What a finish we had,” said general manager Jean LeBlanc. “It just doesn’t get any better than that. The fans got a real treat of short track racing at its finest. Bryan Mason showed his championship side by leaving room to run on the outside for Switser. Anyone who has ever driven a race car knows how easy it would have been for Bryan to lean on Jesse at any point. They are both to be commended.”

Riverside Speedway is now ACT affiliated
Riverside Speedway General manager Jean
LeBlanc is pleased to announce that the Groveton based speedway
just received word that it has become ACT affiliated.
"We are very happy to position our speedway to be able to work with the two biggest tours in the north east," said a delighted LeBlanc. "Tom Mayberry and Tom Curly have helped Riverside to position itself on solid ground by holding their touring events at our track. We have a strong core group of veteran Late Model drivers. When they heard about the ACT Late Models getting a chance to qualify at Loudon on the Indy weekend, that group of drivers contacted me and asked us to become involved. We made the contact with ACT and got done what we needed to do so that our Late Models that are ACT legal can go and be part of something very special as long as they are in the top 15 for points at our speedway." Riverside Speedway is coming off one its strongest seasons ever in 2010, seeing weekly car counts rise consistently above 100.

Jamie Heath Wins CDS Portable Toilets Pre-Hangover 150
Waterford Maine’s Jamie Heath got to the front early and stretched his lead to over four laps, winning the CDS Portable Toilets Pre-Hangover 150 at Riverside Speedway in Groveton Sunday.
Twenty-eight drivers from four different states took to the slushy high banks and put on one heck of a display of power sliding through the 22-degree high-banked corners. Heath took several daring passes during the event, to get to the front early. Heath kept his car from making contact with others, which enabled him to operate at top speed for most of the contest. Over the final 40 laps, Heath was just a couple of seconds off of the normal street stock lap times, on a very slick racing surface. “I love racing here,” said Heath. “I have always wanted to get out and jump on the roof and now I have.”
There were just 10 laps to go, when a few of the top racers experienced unfortunate mishaps that led to their day ending early. Waterford Vermont’s Scott Corey, driving the #0 car, had a solid lock on the second spot. Corey took a wild ride off of turn three and hit the tire barrier. Corey was shaken up and had to be helped from his car. His racecar had to be pushed to the pits with only nine laps remaining. Corey still finished in the 6th spot overall.
Veteran enduro racer, Mike St Germain of Auburn Maine, was flirting with a top three finish. St Germain’s car lost a tire late and ended the day in the 8th spot.
2009 Thunder Road Warrior champion, Donnie Yates, finished in the second spot for the day. Yates took home an extra bonus for drawing the pole position and finishing in the top three. Yates was a picture of consistency all day. The Victory Lane Forum sponsored racer never fell out of the top ten and kept his car on the racing surface throughout the event.
Third place finisher and winner of the 2010 pre-hangover race, Ryan Avery, took to a different strategy. The hard charging driver from Campton, NH took a few celebrated trips off over both turns. Avery was in an all out charge to try and catch the leaders all race long.
Riverside driver, Dan Benoit of Lancaster NH, finished fourth and Thunder Road’s Joel Hodgdon finished fifth overall. Hodgdon captured the spectator drag competition, defeating Dalton’s Kevin Whittum in the finals.
Other top ten finishers included Corey, Shaun Stetson, St Germain, Maynard Bartlett, and Todd Darrington.
The event included a full size pick-up truck. The #92 of David Hartshorn, had the fans on the edge of their seats all day long, working in and amongst the smaller cars. Hartshorn did a commendable job finishing a very respectable 11th.
The regular season for the speedway will get under way on May 7th with the annual car show and practice session. Businesses interested in becoming a speedway sponsor can call the hotline at 603-636-2005.
