MING, SWALLOW AND RANDALL
ON TOP AT RIVERSIDE
Another great crowd rolled into the P.A.S.S. sanctioned Riverside Speedway this past Saturday night as Passumpsic Savings Bank sponsored the evenings activities. Winners on the night included Derek Ming, Nathan Swallow, Troy Randall, Dayna Randall, Brent Ming and Dilyn Switser.
The Optical Expressions Outlaw Sportsman had a rough start to their main event as four cars got together on the back-stretch, thus sending them to the pits for a timeout. When the race resumed, after the Super Stock main event, they went caution free to the finish. Derek Ming raced by Pete Gilcris on lap 20 to score his second win of the season. Doug Laleme followed him through the hole to nail down the second spot. Gilcris rolled home third ahead of Dan Sidney and Steve Patnaude. Ming also won the heat race.
Nathan Swallow recovered from a mid-race incident, and came from the back of the pack and raced to another convincing win in the Budweiser Super Stocks. Jeff Fysh, Denny Degreenia, Jason Rogers and Matt Carbone followed Swallow to the stripe. Fysh and Degreenia grabbed qualifying checkers.
Troy Randall made his return to victory lane after half a seasons absence as the 2007 champion raced by Michael Smith on lap 21 of the River Bend RV Street Stocks main event. Point leader Shawn Swallow raced home third followed by Tori Delabreure and Rubin Call. Brendon Hunt and Alex Theroux won their respective qualifiers.
Like father, like daughter in the Leo Enos Landscaping Angels, as Dayna Randall won the 35 lap main event for the ladies. Vanessa Brown, Johanna Christman, Miranda Gervais and Jennie Dion completed the top five.
The Kids Only Daycare Daredevils had a great run in both main events. It was the fourth consecutive week without a caution for the Rookies and when it was all said and done, Brent Ming followed his uncles footsteps and grabbed the checkers. Lyndsay Dawson, Jerrad Ainsworth, Randy Whittum and Nick Gilcris were second through fifth. The Veterans started off a little slow with a pair of early cautions but when they settled down and raced, what a show they put on for the crowd. Dilyn Switser, Brandon Lambert, Jesse Switser and Kyle Pembroke all finished under a blanket, with Keith Lord in striking distance.
